Peter Soby became a C5/C6 quadriplegic at age 19 after diving into a shallow lake between his freshman and sophomore years at Harper College. He proudly represents the disabled community across multiple aspects of the arts and entertainment industries, living by his motto to “not just survive, but thrive” in life. As a Distinguished Alumni of Harper College, Peter completed his education at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, earning a degree in speech communications before launching his entertainment career.
Peter began as a development executive at various production companies before breaking out as an independent writer and producer. He produced films, theater, short films and music videos, and later co-founded the video collaboration app Zigzag on iOS. Currently, he embraces his artistic side as a mouth painter for the MFPA (Mouth & Foot Painting Artists), who have published two of his children’s books including “Muffin’s Fun and Curious Christmas,” which he both illustrated and wrote. He owns the rights to the 1962 cult classic psychological horror film “Carnival of Souls” and is attached to produce a remake.
Peter serves as the daily video editor for the YouTube channel “Justice Matters,” which recently topped 1 million subscribers. Now he’s tapping into his dark humor through stand-up comedy, having completed a six-week stand-up comedy workshop with instructor Cary Odes, gifted to him by his dear friends Chef AJ and Charles. He is honored to make his debut stand-up appearance alongside Chef AJ as part of the Plant Powered Party, adding the cherry on top of his diverse creative endeavors.
